The 60,000 sq ft building is strategically located on a 3.5 acre industrial site in Limerick City. The comprehensive enabling works and construction began in May 2021, with the recycling plant itself being installed and commissioned over a 20 week period in late 2021. Teams of engineers working 12 hour shifts over 7 days completed and commissioned the site on schedule despite the global supply chain difficulties that transpired throughout 2021 as a result of Covid 19. 

With elements of the plant being 4 metres below ground level and other areas being 13 metres above ground level, the LPP plant is one of the largest plastic recovery facilities in Europe, with 124 conveyors, 15 optical separators, 5 magnets and eddy current separators, 5 large mechanical screens, 2 balers and 8 storage bunkers in addition to other smaller pieces of equipment. The plant itself is fully automated and controlled from a central station and is capable of processing over 70,000 tons of mixed plastic packaging per year.
